London Super Comic Convention 2013
And I was a member of staff again, wearing a yellow t-shirt with STAFF written on it again and my legs were aching on Sunday night again. Loved every minute of it though.
Back to the start...many moons ago I used to work in a comic shop and since then I have kept in contact with my managers and been collecting comics -DUH!
So this year and last year I have helped out as a Volunteer at the London Super Comic Con. Last year was the first time this event had been held and boy did they go all out. Stan 'The Man' Lee was the star guest of the whole weekend and he delivered. This year the organisers had to try their best to come close and instead went for the approach of a whole host of writers and artists rather than one big name. With that being said though, the legend that is Neal Adams (Batman & GL) was in attendance.
David Finch, J Scott Campell, Brian Bolland, George Perez, Herb Trimpe & Mike Choi were just some of the attractions. I got to speak with David Finch personally for a bit which was nice. All nice guys and a geek dream to speak to them. Hats off to the organisers for getting them to attend, sign and sketch their weekends away.
Friday for me began with helping get the hall venue. A big hall with alot of space to fill. Pretty much all was in line and in order except for a space left between the signing area and the ticket area - cautious approach for the organisers, note for next year. All else made perfect sense and looked great. A lot of lifting and moving so good thing I didn't go gym that weekend. Saturday and Sunday were 7am to 7pm days for me just working and although tiring was great. Seeing the happy fans come in their hundreds was a sight, all the different costumes was a sight and also having a browse for myself was nice too.
I will be back again next year and you should join too. George Perez will most probably be back but who else....
YEAH BOYCE
