Mcmanaman not Malicious pleads Whelan
A lot of people won't remember that Wigan won this game, nor the fact that they won the game right at the death. What people will remember is Newcastle having a goal disallowed and more prominately that Callum Mcmanaman should have been sent off for dangerous foul play.
Everyone will recall Roy Keanes horror tackle on Alf Inge Haaland (what a name) and he was sent off and viewed as a disgusting player. This time the foul was just as bad but the player stayed on the pitch. Mr Halsley didn't send off Mcmananman even though the Newcastle player on the receiving end had to go to hospital. Mr Halsley has now been taken off the next set of premier league fixtures and rightly so.
I have seen the challenge again and again and what makes it funny is that Roberto Martinez and even chairman Dave Whelan have come out to defend the boy. Yes it probably wasn't malicious but DAM HOMEY, acknowledge that it was wrong.
Oh, by the way, Wigan won 2-1 and have helped strengthen their fight to stay in the premier league next season
