Rating - 7/10
DC are in the process of setting up alot of BIG, BIG arcs. In Batman we have 'Death of the Family' with the return of Joker and in Green Lantern we have 'Rise of the Third Army'. So now it is Supermans turn. This is also a arc covering several titles, all Super-related. H'el on Earth looks to bring Superman face to face with his Krypton past. While the first 12 issues of the New 52 Superman have touched on his Krypton heritage this story arc looks to really smack his with it and show that family aren't always that great to have.
The start of the story continues to show us how much of Supermans powers we do not know and the first page by Rocaforth is enough for the cover price alone. Quickly we see Clark Kent lose his cool, lose his job and then get bested by a mysterious creature. It isn't till the end and surprise appearance by Supergirl do we learn that there is something Kryptonian about this creature. And who is the figure hovering above Superman and Supergril at the end???....let H'el on Earth begin.
7 is given due to the stunning visuals by Rocaforth on the first page as well as the full page of the ancient Kyrpton beast. Lobdell is teasing us with this and we should take it for what it is - a prelude.
