Liverpool win shows that they can compete
2 weeks in a row now Liverpool have beaten teams in the top half of the table. A month ago that was something they couldn't have said. After last nights victory they had only beaten Swansea and very nearly looked like losing again after taking the lead.
Luis Suarez scored again making him the league's highest scorer as Liverpool took control early on. However the goal in turn brought Spurs to life and thier resurgence justified their 12-game unbeaten run. Two Jan Vertogenhen headers either side of the half-time whistle acted like a slap across the face for Liverpool fans, while at the same time reminding them of how far they still have to go.
How Liverpool ending up winning the game was thanks to lapses in concentration by first Kyle Walker, with a poor back pass) and secondly Assou-Ekato (i think i spelt it right) for bundling into Suarez in the penatly box. A few weeks ago Gerrard missed a pen and therefore this week i was very nervous as he stepped up. Thankfully he scored and the 3 points belonged to the red men. Some red mist spolied over after the final whistle between Suarez and Dembele, but hey these things happen.
Dreams of Europe are there for Liverpool, but they are still many points of. Whilst the loss for Spurs, just shows that the job is not done.
